Underworld Criminal 'Kanjipaani Imran' has been remanded until September 20 under the Prevention of Terrorism Act for threatening a police officer during a telephone call earlier this year.
M.N. Mohamed Imran alias 'Kanjipaani Imran' is alleged to have threatened a police officer-in-charge demanding the release of a suspect who had been nabbed with more than 20 grams of heroin during a raid in Keselwatte.
The suspect had been identified as 36-year old Kemadasan Dushyanan, a resident of Pottuvil.
During today’s hearing at the Colombo Magistrate’s Court, the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) branch of the police, had submitted a recording of the telephone conversation during which the accused had levelled death threats.
Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara noted that investigation extracts of this case would be sent to the Attorney General seeking legal advice, upon conclusion of the investigations.
