Karu Jayasuriya, in a letter has said that the legality of the dissolution of Parliament must be determined by the Supreme Court.
The letter, addressed to public servants has requested them to fulfill their obligations towards the country and defend the constitution as per the constitutitonal oath.
He also called upon them to refuse the execution of any illegal orders they may recieve.
Mr. Jayasuriya also noted that he was openly threatened to be jailed following a false accusation levelled by Foreign Minister Sarath Amunugama.
Commenting on the legality of the dissolution of Parliament, he said that it is upto the Supreme Court to determine on the matter.
He signed off by saying that he is always prepared to make sacrifices towards his country while also saying that he is "prepared to face any consequences for these actions without hesitation".
