The administration of the Kelaniya University said the university will remain closed and will not open on May 3rd as scheduled. The university will be reopened for students on May 11th.
The administration said health units are still conducting investigations into the mysterious infection spreading among the students within the university.
All faculties except the Faculty of Medicine were temporarily closed on April 26 for one week due to a disease spreading in the hostels. All undergraduates were instructed to vacate the hostels.
According to the University Registrar, 12 students were hospitalized due to the mystery disease.
