Kerala cannabis worth Rs 4.8 million has been recovered from a cemetery in Karanavai, Jaffna, yesterday (Aug 19).
The narcotic had been seized during a joint operation by the Special Task Force (STF) and the State Intelligence Service.
More than 59,000 kilograms of kerala cannabis had been recovered and has been handed over to the police for further investigations.
No suspects have been arrested in connection with the narcotic haul so far, police said.
Meanwhile, another individual had also been arrested with 1.5 kilograms of kerala cannabis worth Rs 180,000 in the vicinity of the Jaffna rail crossing yesterday.
The arrest had been made during a joint raid carried out by the STF and Navy intelligence officers. Steps had been taken to handover the suspect to the police for further inquiries.
