Two people have died due to heavy flooding in the Kilinochchi district, the Ministry of Disaster Management reported yesterday (Dec 26).
According to the Ministry, 47,578 people from 15,198 families have been affected due to the floods.
Meanwhile, 505 houses have been partially damaged while 25 houses have been completely damaged due to the heavy flooding.
The Meteorological Department issuing a weather forecast has predicted that showers or thundershowers will occur at few places in North-central province and in Trincomalee and Batticaloa districts.
The forecast further notes that the prevailing showery condition in the country is expected to temporarily reduce to a certain extent from tomorrow.
