Tourism Development and Wildlife Minister John Amaratunga on Wednesday handed over the letter of appointment to Kishu Gomes to head two key tourism institutions.
The postponement last week in the appointment of Mr. Gomes was attributed to concerns that the Prime Minister's office had not yet approved the appointment.
Mr. Gomes was to receive his appointment as the head of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) but this was postponed at the last minute and following discussions this week there seemed to be a need to appoint Mr. Gomes to head both the Promotion Bureau as well as the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), the regulatory arm of the tourism industry.
Last week the SLTDA was planning to appoint a former tourism official Ranjith De Silva as its head. (SD)
