Former Prisons Superintendent Emil Ranjan Lamahewa has been further remanded until February 12 in the case involving the murder of 27 Welikada prison inmates in 2012.
The order was issued when he was produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrates court today (Feb 05).
The suspect has already filed a petition seeking bail at the Court of Appeal.
Police Inspector Neomal Rangajeewa who was also arrested in connection to the murder has however been released on bail.
CID officials had informed court that they were conducting further investigations into the incident.

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is due to vacate his official residence at Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo this morning, a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) source said.
The Presidents’ Entitlements (Repeal) Bill was passed by a majority of 150 in parliament today. However the opposition MP’s were absent during the voting.
