Lanka, India defense dialogue begins in New Delhi

Sri Lanka's delegation for the '3rd India - Sri Lanka Annual Defense Dialogue' in New Delhi, headed by Defense Secretary Karunasena Hettiarachchi is currently attending the forum sessions, together with Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard representatives, Government Information Department said.
'India - Sri Lanka Annual Defense Dialogue' was inaugurated in 2012 as a forum for exchange of views on defiance cooperation initiatives, regional and maritime security issues and for further strengthening bilateral defense ties between the two neighboring nations. Sri Lankan Defense Secretary Karunasena Hettiarachchi and Indian Defense Secretary G Mohan Kumar are expected to meet during the discussions. The two-day (Sept 21 - 22) cordial discussions, would focus on several issues of bilateral importance, the Army said. During their stay, the Sri Lankan delegation is also scheduled to call on several high ranking officials of the Indian defense establishment.
