Lankan born Conservative Party candidate Ranil Jayawardena has been elected to the British parliament at the 2015 general elections held yesterday foreign media reported. Jayawardena was elected to UK Parliament from the North East Hampshire Constituency. He served as a local Councilor and the Conservative Deputy Leader of Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council since 2008.

A Sri Lankan man was apprehended at Suvarnabhumi airport for attempting to smuggle wildlife out of the country after three ball pythons were found hidden in his underwear, the Bangkok post reported.
