A lawyer who was injured during the terrorist attacks on April 21 has filed a fundamental rights petition at the Supreme Court seeking a compensation of Rs 500 million.
Moditha Ekanayake, the lawyer, had been injured during the bombing at the Shangri-La hotel which was one of the seven targets of the IS terror group-backed bombers.
The IGP, Commanders of the Tri-Forces, former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando, and 41 others have been named as respondents to the petition.
The petitioner stated that he has been hospitalised for more than a month due to burn injuries he suffered in the explosion.
Accordingly, he sought a court order to declare that the government had violated the fundamental rights recognised by the constitution, due to its failure to prevent the tragedy.
