Extensive damages have been caused to a a leading textile store in Wattala due to a fire which broke out at the three-storeyed building of the shop last night (Mar 24).
The fire had broken out at around 08:45 pm and had forced the temporary closure of the Negombo-Colombo main road.
Swift measures were taken to deploy 30 firemen and eight fire trucks in order to douse the fire along with the assistance of the Police and the Navy.
Police believe that the fire had erupted due to an electric fault. Further investigations are being carried out to determine the losses caused by the fire.
