The Director General (DG) of Health Services Dr Asela Gunawardena has clarified that the reports indicating that 19 children and 30 bystanders have been detected with COVID at the Lady Ridgway Hospital (LRH) in a single day was not correct.
He said, instead that was the total number of detections after the first patient was detected at the Minuwangoda cluster.
Dr Gunawardena said that the reports could create unnecessary fear among those using the services of the hospital.
He said most of those cases detected were confirmed positive for COVID -19 on admission.
He said that there was no threat of using the Lady Ridgeway Hospital.
