The Sri Lankan army has decided to recall Lt. Colonel Kalana Amunuprura who was attached to the UN peacekeeping force in Mali following a request by the United Nations.
The SL Army notes that the appointment of Colonel Amunapura was agreed by the UN in 2016.
Issuing a release, the SL army also said that the names of four nominees were put forward before the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka and it was the UN who selected Colonel Amunapura whilst omitting the other three nominees.
