Lt. Gen. Silva appointed as Chief of Defence Staff
Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva has been appointed as the Acting Chief of Defence Staff with effect from tomorrow (Jan 1).
Silva will also continue to function in his capacity as Army Chief, the Army Headquarters said.
His appointment came in the wake of Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne's resignation from the position with effect from today.
