LTTE heavy weapons unearthed in Omanthai

A stock of heavy weapons suspected to have been hidden by the LTTE have been unearthed at Paalamottai in Omanthai. According to Omanthai police, an individual was carrying out some digging work using earthmoving equipment on a plot of land belonging to him when the stock of weapons was accidently uncovered. 

The cache of weapons had consisted of 30 LMG and LPMG weapons. They were in an extremely poor condition at the time of recovery, police further stated.

Police are due to conduct further inspections of the land to ascertain if any more weapons are buried in the area.
