A luxury Jaguar vehicle worth Rs 22 million which had been imported for the use of the former chairman of the Sri Lanka Bureau Foreign Employment Bureau (SLBFE) remained parked at the bureau's premises without being used. The SLBFE meanwhile, was paying Rs 400, 000 each month as installments for the vehicle, it was revealed at Parliament's Committee on Public Enterprises (CoPE) yesterday (18).
The revelation was made when officials from SLBFE came before CoPE headed by JVP MP Sunil Handunnetti.
The current chairman of SLBFE told CoPE members that he could not use such an expensive vehicle and as such, he was hoping to hand it over to either the Foreign Ministry or the Treasury and obtain one or two other vehicles in its place.
