Former Magistrate Thilina Gamage granted bail

Former Colombo Additional Magistrate Thilina Gamage, who surrendered to court earlier today over allegations of possessing an elephant calf without a valid permit, was released on bail by the Gangodawila Magistrate's Court.

The Colombo Chief Magistrate had earlier issued notice for Thilina Gamage to appear before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to make a statement regarding the case. However, he did not turn up at the CID.

The former Additional Magistrate has also been sent on compulsary leave by the Judicial Service Commission pending the conclusion of the ongoing case against him.
