Chinese President Xi Jinping and First Lady Peng Liyuan warmly welcomed President Maithripala Sirisena, Mrs Jayanthi Sirisena and the Sri Lankan delegation during the official welcome ceremony at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, China, March 26, 2015. The President is on a four-day official visit to the People’s Republic of China.
The welcome ceremony followed with a guard-of-honour for President Maithripala.
Following the welcome ceremony, the two leaders engaged in a one-on-one discussion and joined the delegation for bilateral discussions.
According to the president media unit, the President, along with many other world leaders, is scheduled to attend the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2015, which will be held in Boao, Hainan Province from March 26 to 29 under the theme of Asia’s New Future: Towards a Community of Common Destiny.
Ministers Mangala Samaraweera, Patali Champika Ranawaka, Rajitha Senaratne, Ravi Karunanayake, Rauf Hakeem, Wijeyadasa Rajapaksa, and Jagath Pushpakumara and Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka are accompanying the President.
