Major General Sathyapriya Liyanage assumed office as Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) yesterday (Apr 25).
The new Commandant assumed office before engaging in religious observances and formalties.
Major General Liyanage who is also the Commander of the Security Forces in the West later planted a sapling at the SLAVF headquarters in Kosgama before delivering his inaugral address at the SLAVF.
