Male teacher arrested for sexually harassing female colleague

A male teacher who allegedly sexually harassed a female colleague inside the staff room of a school in Nawagaththegama has been arrested. 

The suspect teacher is a married 30-year-old individual serving at a school in the Anamaduwa Education Division. The victim is a 28-year-old unmarried female teacher at the same school. 

The incident had allegedly occurred on November 1. Police said the female teacher had allegedly been waiting at the school's staff room as she could not make her way home due to heavy rain. It is alleged that the suspect held the victim by force and kissed her. 

Both the suspect and the victim had been transferred to different schools after the incident came to light. 

The suspect is due to be produced before the Anamaduwa Magistrate's Court.
