Minister of Development Strategies and International Trade Malik Samarawickrama held discussions with the Vice Minister of Commerce of China, Wang Shouwen during a visit to Beijing last week, a statement from the ministry said.
The discussions centered around the recommencement of negotiations on the Sri Lanka China Free Trade Agreement, strengthening bilateral trade ties and opportunities to boost Sri Lankan exports to China, resolving of key trade facilitation issues, and attracting of export-oriented manufacturing investments from China to Sri Lanka.
The Minister also appraised the Chinese delegation of the ongoing trade and investment reforms in Sri Lanka, and reiterated the Government’s commitment to trade liberalization.
