A 58-year old has died following serious injuries sustained in a fight at around 8:20 pm in Papoladeniya, Medagama yesterday (Feb 04).
Police said that the man was admitted to the Medagama hospital along with the other individual who was involved in the fight.
The victim has been identified as D.M. Siriwardena, a resident of Madagama. A post-mortem examination and a magisterial inquest are due to be carried out on his remains which lie at the Medagama Hospital.
Meanwhile, the other individiual who was also involved in the fight and as a result had attacked the victim, is currently receiving treatment under police custody.
Medagama police are conducting further investigations into the incident.

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is due to vacate his official residence at Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo this morning, a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) source said.
The Presidents’ Entitlements (Repeal) Bill was passed by a majority of 150 in parliament today. However the opposition MP’s were absent during the voting.
