Minister of Official Languages Mano Ganesan taking to his Twitter handle has defended President Maithripala Sirisena's address in English in the Philippines.
Minister Ganesan, in the tweet referred to a snippet of the President's speech circulating across social media platforms on which a Sinhala caption was included to ridicule the President.
"Do you think that the President of Sri Lanka need to expressively pronounce Queen’s language equivalent to her subjects?" the Minister questioned the producer on his tweet.
Mr. Ganesan then opined that he does not think so.
