Measures are being taken to overcome the existent shortage of funds in the Mahapola Scholarship scheme.
Higher Education Minister, Bandula Gunawardena held discussions with the Finance Ministry, to obatin
Rs 125 million from the Treasury to meet this shortfall.
Further, Mr Gunawardena said, Education Ministry Secretary, Anura Dissanayake is due to lodge a complaint at the CID today regarding the issue, as students who were due to recive the funds had not recived any funds for the last three months.
