A memorandum expressing disagreement over the possible transfer of Northern Province Governor Reginald Cooray has been handed over to the Presidential Secretariat yesterday (Dec 1), Kilinochchi District Secretary S. Arumainayaham told Times Online.
Trainee teachers and health officials in the North had handed over the memorandum to Mr. Arumainayaham yesterday.
The memorandum urged the President to refrain from transferring Mr. Cooray to another province saying he was a Governor who understood the problems of the people in the North.
Mr. Arumainayaham had accepted the memorandum when he had arrived at the Kilinochchi railway station to receive a stock of flood relief items that had arrived from the Southern Province.
President Maithripala Sirisena had instructed all Provincial Council governors to resign from office on December 31.
