The Department of Meteorology issued a weather advisory on the recent heat wave saying its effects could be felt intensely by residents in the Eastern Province and some parts of Polonnaruwa, Mullaitivu and Kilinochchi districts today and tomorrow.
According to the Heat Index Forecast issued by the Met. Department, the increase in temperatures could cause fatigue and heat cramps due to prolonged exposure and activity.
Accordingly, the Met. Department advised residents of these areas to stay hydrated and limit strenuous activities.

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is due to vacate his official residence at Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo this morning, a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) source said.
The Presidents’ Entitlements (Repeal) Bill was passed by a majority of 150 in parliament today. However the opposition MP’s were absent during the voting.
