The Meteorology Department said in a weather advisory that showers or thundershowers will develop over most parts of the island during the afternoon and night. "Thundershowers will develop at most parts of the island after 2.00 p.m. Showersor thundershowers will occur at Western,Southern and Sabaragamuwa provinces during the morning too. Heavy rain falls (more than 100mm) are also expected at some places," the weather advisory said. There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers. General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
