Met Department warns of strong winds

The Met Department has warned that strong gusty winds up to 50-60 kmph can be expected over the island. The department stated that the possibility for increasing wind speed to a certain extent is still high over the Island and surrounding sea areas. 

Accordingly, such winds can be expected, particularly in the Northern, North Central, Uva and North-Western provinces and in Matale, Trincomalee, Ampara and Hambanthota districts.

Showers will occur at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North Western and Southern provinces. Light showers may occur in North Central province.
