The Meteorological Department has forecasted that the showery conditions in the south-western part of the country is expected to enhance during the next 24 hours.
Issuing an advisory, the Department noted that showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Southern provinces.
Some areas could experience heavy rain falls more than 100 mm.
Meanwhile, wind speeds too could increase upto 60 kmph across the country, particularly in the Northern, North-central and North-western provinces and in the Trincomalee, Hambantota and Matale districts.

A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
Update: Five of the twelve passengers on board the bell 212 aircraft that crashed into the Maduru Oya today, have succumbed to their injuries, the SLAF said.
