The Meteorological Department forecast strong winds of speeds upto 40 kmph could be expected across the island today (Sept 17), particularly in Hambantota, Monaragala, Matale, Matara and Batticaloa districts.
The forecast also notes that spells of showers could be experienced in the Western, Central, Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts while few showers may occur in North-western province.
