The Presidential Secretariat has directed ministry secretaries to request the heads of all state institutions under their purview to resign from their positions.
"..you, as the line Ministry Secretary, in consultation with the Hon. Minister may request the resignation of Chairpersons and Board Members of these organisations under your purview,'' a circular issued to ministry secretaries read.
The directive comes after President Gotabaya Rajapaksa appointed a six-member expert panel to recommend qualified people for high positions in state bodies.
The circular noted that interim measures would be taken to ensure the operation of these bodies until a new Board of Directors is appointed.
