The Meteorological Department says the showery conditions in the Northern and Eastern regions are expected to enhance from today.
This is due to the North-East monsoon gradually establishing itself over the country.
In its weather forecast, the Department predicted rain in several parts of the island after 1 pm.
The Northern, Eastern, Uva, and North Central Provinces are likely to receive around five inches of rainfall, while the Sabaragamuwa, Western, Central, and Southern Provinces will receive around four inches of rain.
