More than 100,000 people have been affected due to the inclement weather across four provinces since last Sunday, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) said.

According to the DMC, the Western Province accounted for more than 88,000 of the total affected individuals which stands at 116,083.

Yesterday, the Disaster Management Ministry said that Rs 2.5 million would be provided as compensation to each fully damaged house, while compensation for partially damaged houses could vary after an assessment.

The Meteorological Department today forecasted that showers or thunder-showers could be experienced along with heavy winds and rough seas during the day.
