More than 20 acres of forest land destroyed in fire
More than 20 acres of forest land have been destroyed due to a fire which had erupted in Wellawaya over the weekend.
It is reported that several endemic species of plants had been destoryed due to the fire which is believed to have erupted due to the dry weather.
The assistance of the army had been obtained to douse the fire, Disaster Management Centre Additional Director (Monaragala) Ravindra Kumara said.
