More than 2500 police personnel receive promotions
More than 2500 police personnel who were serving in different ranks were given promotions following an instruction issued by IGP Pujith Jaysundara to the National Police Commission.
Accordingly, 1783 male and 334 female officers were promoted from the rank of police constable to police sergeant.
Five hundred and fifty three male and 76 female sergeants were promoted to the positions of Inspector while 124 police constable drivers received promotions as police sergeants (driver).
Twenty-one police sergeant drivers were also promoted to the position of Inspectors (driver).
The number of promotions in total was 2891 .
