A total of 3402.21 kilograms of beedi leaves have so far been seized from seas off Sri Lanka for this year, the Navy said.
Issuing a press release, the Navy said that the recent seizure at Sand Dunes IV to VII in Mannar was recorded to have weighed 751.94 kilograms. The seizure was made after Navy officials had discovered three parcels of the said narcotic at Sand Dunes IV in Mannar.
The Navy noted that the contraband has been handed over to the Jaffna Customs Unit for further investigations.
Four suspects have also been arrested in connection with the seizure.
