More than 40 persons who were part of a mob which was involved in the recent unrest in Chilaw have been identified using the assistance of CCTV footage, a senior police official said.
According to the Police, the mob comprised criminals and warranted suspects who were involved in various offences previously.
Meanwhile, 30 individuals who were allegedly involved in acts of violence in Chilaw, have been arrested by the Police yesterday (May 15).
The suspects are due to be produced before the Marawila Magistrate Courts today, the senior police official who spoke to Times Online noted.
