More than 400,000 people belonging to nearly 15,000 families have been hit by the drought in the North and the North-West parts of the country, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) said.
Accordingly, the DMC has taken steps to distribute 1,000 water bowsers and 500 water tanks to these areas in a bid to alleviate their living conditions.
The general public has also been requested to provide water tanks or bottled water for the drought-affected residents. Those willing to do so could contact the DMC on the following numbers : 117 / 112 136 136 / 112 136 222 / 112 670 002
