Joint opposition Group leader and UPFA MP Dinesh Gunawardena today urged President Maithripala Sirisena to issue a pardon all members of the security forces who had fought to defeat terrorism.
“I urge the Preside to pardon all the security personnel who served in the war starting from the soldiers to the officers. They have scarified their life and limb for the country. In other country s such pardons have been granted,” he said.
Mr.Gunawardena also said the Office of Missing Persons (OMP) s Bill passed by Parliament recently has paved the way for Sri Lankan security forces to be persecuted in an international court.
“I would like to appeal to the President to make the necessary amendments to the OMP Bill before it is implemented,” he said.
