Parliamentarian Ashu Marasinghe has written to the Acting Police Chief calling for an inquiry into an incident involving the assault of a van driver along the Kandy road yesterday (Jul 18).
Marasinghe, in his letter stated that the incident had been clearly caught on tape and had been circulating on social media.
He had pointed out that the vehicles involved in the incident, belonging to a VIP convoy, have been identified by the numbers CAG 0550, CAD 8850.
Accordingly, the Parliamentarian had requested Acting IGP C D Wickramaratne to launch an investigation and enforce the law on the suspects involved in the incident.
