Parliamentarian Sanath Nishantha escaped unhurt when his vehicle met with an accident in the Puttalam District yesterday (Jan 20), police said.
However, the driver of the vehicle who had sustained injuries is currently receiving treatment at the Puttalam Base Hospital. The accident had also caused irreparable damage to the vehicle.
According to the police, the accident had occured when MP Nishantha, a member of the SLPP, was heading towards his residence in Arachchikattuwa after taking part in the party's development activities in Wanathawillu.
It is reported that Mr. Nishantha was travelling along with his wife and several others at the time of the accident. However, they had escaped unhurt.
