SLFP MP Vijayamuni Soyza said the decision to cross over to the UNF led government was owing to the tensions between the Executive, legislature and the judiciary in the recent past.
Following his crossover in Parliament, MP Soyza said he took the decision on behalf of the party and that his organisers had said they were unable to work under the previous conditions.
He further thanked all minor parties for the manner in which they functioned during the political gridlock.
During his address in Parliament, MP Soyza also thanked Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the incumbent President Maithripala Sirisena for providing him a Cabinet portfolio that he could work towards.
Mr. Soyza, while thanking the former President said that he could not work with the former's associates.
