Legal action is to be taken with regard to a fake document circulating on social media which alleges to have been signed between the TNA and the UNP.
Addressing a press briefing yesterday (Dec 12), MPs Mujibur Rahman and Ashu Marasinghe said no such agreements have been signed or entered into between the UNP and the TNA. They said that legal action would be sought against those involved behind creating such fake documents.
The UNP MPs also pointed out that opposition leader R. Sampanthan would not have placed his signature to a document (in this case a fake one ) drafted in Sinhala only. They also pointed out that UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe does not use his signature in English on documents that have been drafted in Sinhala.
The fake agreement lists out the benefits the TNA would gain by voting for Ranil Wickremesinghe in Parliament. However, the two MPs pointed out that the reason that the TNA did not support Mahinda Rajapaksa was that Mr. Rajapaksa had not been appointed legally.
