Debarred Attorney Nagananda Kodithuwakku has filed a fundamental rights petition citing that the people's rights have been violated due to the government's failure in preventing the occurence of the Easter Sunday attacks.
The petition was filed at the Supreme Court alleged that government officials failed to act upon Intelligence warnings which were issued prior to the tragic incident.
Ten persons including the President, Prime Minister, Opposition Leader, IGP, and the former Defence Secretary have been named as respondents in the case.
Mr. Kodithuwakku had sought a court order to be issued to the Attorney General in order take action against the relvant officials as per the Criminal Code.
The petitioner also requested court to instruct the respondents to provide compensation to those who lost their lives as a result of these deadly attacks.
