Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa has been prevented from entering the United States. Mr Rajapaksa, who is currently in Russia, took to Twitter early this morning (22) to say that he was planning to take an Emirates flight to Houston in the US from Moscow.
However, Emirates Airlines had informed him that US officials had instructed them not to admit him onboard, Mr Rajapaksa further said.
He added that no official reason had so far been conveyed to him as to why he has been prevented from traveling to the US.
Mr Rajapaksa was in Moscow as an independent observer of the recently concluded Russian Presidential Election.
