The war against the usage of drugs has been more challenging than ending a 30-year long war, Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando said during the Inter Divisional Police Sports Meet in Bambalapitiya on Saturday.
"We are all aware of the civil war in which we were all mired in for 30 years. However, that seems to be an easy task when comparing to the President's war against the usage of naroctics," Mr. Fernando said.
He also pledged to extend his support to the President in order to eliminate the consumption of such dangerous drugs.
Meanwhile, 769 kilograms of cocaine which were seized in the recent past will be destroyed at the DNS Warehouse Complex, Kelaniya tomorrow (Apr 01).
