A 4% Nation Building Tax will not be added to the electricity bills, Minister of Power and Renewable Energy Ranjith Siyambalapitiya was quoted as saying by the government news portal.
He was quoted as saying the Government’s aim is to efficiently supply electricity continuously without burdening the consumers.
The Minister said that the question raised at present by many quarters is as to what will happen to the Nation Building Tax announced in the budget. He clarified that this 4% Nation Building Tax will not be added to the bill of electricity consumers.
The Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya was speaking at a ceremony held to mark the commencement of official duties of Deputy Minister Ajith P. Perera at his new office complex.
