A National Intelligence Bill aimed reducing political interference in intelligence services will be presented in Parliament after obtaining cabinet approval, Minister Bandula Gunawardena said today.
He said that the proposal was submitted by State Minister of Defence Chamal Rajapaksa to direct the Legal Draftsman to prepare the Bill.
“One of the objectives is that officials working intelligence services cannot be penalized for performing their duties, particually when a government changes’, Minister Gunawardena told the post cabinet press conference.
He said that all intelligence services will be covered in the proposed Act. (DW)
