The bill on the National Medicine Regulatory Authority is currently being debated in Parliament. The session commenced with President Maithripala Sirisena addressing the house. The Pesident had pointed out that a national medicinal regulatory policy is a necessity for people and added that the bill will enable the importation, regulation and controlling of the prices of medicinal drugs. The establishment of The National Medicine Regulatory Authority is the focal point of the Bill. The Authority will head the regulation of the manufacture, distribution, registration, and licensing of medicinal drugs and devices.

A Sri Lankan man was apprehended at Suvarnabhumi airport for attempting to smuggle wildlife out of the country after three ball pythons were found hidden in his underwear, the Bangkok post reported.
