The Sri Lanka Navy, yesterday (Oct 22) apprehended five Indian fishermen 3.5 nautical miles off the Delft island for poaching in Sri Lanka's territorial waters using a trawler.
The arrested fishermen and the trawler were brought to the vessel SLNS Uthtara for a basic medical check-up after which they were handed over to the assistant director of fisheries in Jaffna for legal proceedings.
